Before and After : Antique Rocker

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

This rocker has been in my family for ages. My great aunt who is in her late eighties remembers rocking on it when she was a little girl. I remember when my mom inherited it. I helped my dad strip off all the old layers of paint and he painted it a lovely green that matched our house. When I moved out my mom gave the rocker to me.

I had such a hard time finding a cushion to fit it and then came across this beautiful one at TJ Maxx. The only problem was that the colors clashed so Shayne and I sanded the rocker down and painted it a nice shade of brown. It needed repainted anyway and I love the way it looks now!

I have started a little collection of vintage typewriters. I don’t know quite how I’m going to display them yet but for now I just had to show them off!

Sohomode

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Well, my ceiling has been spackled and primed and will be painted over the weekend. After almost four years of staring at this eyesore I feel like our bedroom is now somewhere I can relax instead of stare at peeling paint. Now all I want to do is lounge around the bedroom in a pair of these house pants by sohomode!

Today our ceiling is getting fixed and my work area is in the construction zone. Which means I’ll be out most of the day but I’m going to use this as a chance to get caught up on some things that have piled up around here. Like hemming a few dresses, finish cleaning and organizing my closet, etc. If I get done with those then it’s time to head outside with my camera! I’m so happy the ceiling will be fixed AND our landlord said we could paint the walls a color! Every renters dream. My head is spinning with color possibilities. Enjoy your day and hopefully I will be back later.
