Shiny Brite
This afternoon Shayne and I went to the flea market and I finally bought my Shiny Brites! It’s not that they were hard to find. I kept seeing them at every antique store and flea market that we go to. It was finding them at a decent price that was tricky. Here they are and I’m off to put them on the tree! Read below for more about Shiny Brite Ornaments.

Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments were created by an American businessman named Max Eckardt in collaboration with Corning Glass Company in 1937. Corning adapted their process for making light bulbs to making clear glass ornaments, which were then shipped to Eckhardt’s factories to be decorated by hand.
As wartime shortages increased, Eckardt started having the ornaments decorated in pastels and bright colors. As a result, Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments became very popular because of their uniqueness and soon become a staple of every family’s Christmas trees. By the end of the war, Shiny Brite was the largest manufacturer of Christmas ornaments in the world and the popularity of the ornaments raged on into the 1950s. Sadly, the demand for glass ornaments waned as plastic ornaments became more popular, ultimately bringing the Shiny-Brite company to close its doors in 1962.
