planting lilacs and buttercups…

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Okay they aren’t exactly lilacs and buttercups but last weekend, after the flea market we stopped at a roadside stand selling flowers and picked out a few things for our mini garden. I finally found something to put in my Liberty of London planters which are now sitting proudly on our back porch/balcony.

I have to head back to this stand for a few more plants to fill out the garden and to see the adorable owl that they have just hanging out there.

I got a man to stick it out
And make a home from a rented house
And we’ll collect the moments one by one
I guess that’s how the future’s done

Vintage Pyrex : Designs Casserole

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

The Designs pattern consists of two colorful bands of arches that sort of look like fishscales. The colors are a red orange and greenish gold. The pattern is only featured on two known pieces of Pyrex and the colors are reversed on the two casseroles. I have the larger (3 quart) pictured below and am still on the hunt for the smaller (1.5 quart) version.

Even though this pattern is only on two casseroles it is one of my favorites. It has a very modern feel and I wish it were available in more pieces like mixing bowls.

Name: Designs
Type: Casserole Set
Size: 1.5 quart #343 and 3 quart #344
Year: 1970’s
