Dreaming Of…Picnics

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Today while it is POURING down rain I am dreaming of having a picnic on a warm and sunny day. Over the Summer Shayne and I went on quite a few picnics. It’s one of our favorite couple things to do. Below are some wonderful photos from Life Magazine of people doing just that.

Manicure Wednesday : Gradient Manicure

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Last night I wanted to try something different than my usual paint job. I searched around awhile and found a tutorial for a gradient manicure. I used OPI Big Apple Red (the perfect red in my opinion) as my base color and OPI Wine Me & Dine Me for the darker color.

You’ll want to start out with a clear base coat followed by the base color. Make sure to let each coat dry before moving on to the next step. Grab a craft sponge and paint some of the darker shade onto it (you could also dip your sponge into the polish). Now is the fun part! Dab the sponge onto your nail working your way to the tip of the nail. The color should gradually get darker. You can do this from dark to light as well. This video tutorial is really helpful.

These are my nails using the new polish I bought on Sunday. It’s OPI Jade is the New Black from the Summer collection. This is a great shade though I was hoping to get Cuckoo For This Color from the new Swiss collection but the salon I went to was sold out.

front porch

One of my goals going into the weekend was to decorate our front porch for Fall. It rained all day Monday so late in the afternoon yesterday I finally got to snap a photo of the mum and pumpkins.

weekend

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

This weekend was a busy one to say the least. We had our yard sale on Saturday and did really well. We made over $250 which is going toward our new sofa. It felt so good to clear out all of our junk and today I will be dropping off the unsold items at the thrift store.

I only slept a total of 2 hours the night before and was so exhausted but I managed to have the best day. I got to spend time with two great friends and see my family including my lovely grandma. I wish there were some pictures but my camera got left behind. Saturday evening we headed to TJ Maxx where I found a beautiful new winter coat by Kenneth Cole and a few blouses from Martin & Osa.

Sunday was full of errands. I got a new nail polish and the purple cloche hat I’ve been wanting from Target and I even got some pumpkins and a mum to decorate our front porch.

Happy Weekend

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with plans and adventures. We are having a yard sale tomorrow as part of the community sale in our town. I am up to my eyeballs in stuff and pricing things is no fun, but I am look forward to all of these goods that were taking up our storage in the attic finding a brand new home.

After the sale is over I want to accomplish at least a few things off this list:

Take whatever hasn’t sold at the yard sale to Goodwill

Go see Monty Python at the Campus Theatre

Decorate for Fall (mums + pumpkins)

Go out to dinner

Paint my nails a fun new shade

Find some Pumpkin beer
