North Carolina Courthouse Wedding

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

In the middle of planning their wedding, Chelsea and Nate had a change of heart and decided to elope to their local county courthouse. They invited more than 20 of their closest friends and family, including photographer Kat Braman, whose images captured the day beautifully.

From the bride, Chelsea: We decided early on that we weren’t interested in having a traditional wedding and since neither of us were keen on being the center of attention, a courthouse elopement seemed fitting. We wanted our day to feel spontaneous and intimate with a vintage feel to match the character of the 81 year old courthouse. From the borrowed jewelry, to the look of handpicked flowers, to the cupcake shop that we walked to after the ceremony –we wanted to create a day that felt effortless.

I have been a fan of Jan Skácelík’s prints for some time now and am so excited to have his shop ReStyle as a sponsor this month! Jan is a Czech Republic-based graphic designer whose posters feature clean lines and lots of color. They are perfect for any mid-century modern design lover. Here are some of my favorites from the ReStyle shop. Be sure to visit Jan’s blog, Design Attractor for tons of design eye candy and check out these photos of his home studio.

Be Kind

Monday, July 18th, 2011

I had a wonderful weekend catching up with old friends, spending time with the little brother, playing pinball, eating ice cream and taking late night strolls with the mister. We came across this chalk drawing on one of those walks. Hope your weekend was just as good. Be kind!

Vintage Pyrex : Raffia Casserole

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

This week’s Pyrex Obsession is a covered casserole that features a distinctive brown pattern printed on a tan background. The lid is white with a bullseye like pattern printed in brown. I love any Pyrex piece that has a printed lid and the fact that this one has that plus a printed base…swoon! The pattern is often referred to as “Brown Onion” but after seeing the original box it seems the pattern is actually called Raffia. It is a 2.5 quart covered casserole with the number 9073 printed on the box and 475-B printed on the bottom. Originally, Raffia came with a brown clear plastic hugger cradle.

Name: Raffia (aka Brown Onion)
Type: Covered Casserole with Hugger Cradle
Size: 2.5 quart #475-B
Year: ?
