Nadinoo’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection is now available online. I love all of the vintage details, peter pan collars, mini lengths and bows. Nadia Izruna’s designs celebrate the lady from eras gone by with timeless silhouettes in silks and cottons from Liberty of London prints.

Dear Creatures Spring 2010 collection takes inspiration from the vivid and colorful world of Jack Demy’s The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Visually delightful and unique, the 1964 film musical creates high French drama with popping hues and rich textural design, and Dear Creatures manifests this in chic sartorial form. Spring 2010 evokes the fresh energy of 1960s Paris. Iconic French New Wave films cease to be imaginary with the line’s charming looks, which in a past life could have found their way into the closets of Catherine Deneuve, Anna Karina, and Brigitte Bardot.

On the Colette Patterns blog I found this wonderful and free pattern for the madeleine mini bloomers. It only takes a yard of fabric and an hour or two to make them. Download the pattern here.

Love Story is on my top ten list of favorite movies. Other than the plot my favorite part of the movie of course is the wardrobe. Love Story does winter clothing better than any other movie with the coats, wool skirts and brightly colored tights. Here are a few stills.

Brigitte Bardot always comes to mind when someone utters the word pinup or sex symbol. Men lusted after her womanly figure while women lusted after and tried to copy her 50’s pinup girl style. Her large kohl rimmed eyes and pale pink lips were her fashion trademarks. Bardot was also a rebel who resisted the claustrophobic mores of the 50’s with her relaxed way of dressing.

“She is every man’s idea of the girl he’d like to meet in Paris” said the film-critic Ivon Addams in 1955. She often wore her blonde hair in a wild pony tail or sometimes pigtails in a look that today is thought of as the perfect bedhead look. Her pink gingham wedding dress designed by Jacques Esterel became a sensation in 1956. Also, in 1956 Brigitte starred in the film And God Created Woman which was an international success.
