happy friday

Today is dreary and chilly and these photos of Isley’s nursery are so bright and happy I had to share. We’re looking forward to a weekend filled with fun, family and lots of photo editing on my part. I was honored to shoot my oldest friend’s maternity photos after her shower last weekend and cannot wait to get them finished so that I can share them with her. Happy Friday!

you are my i love you

I just had to share this little image I created for Izzie’s baby book. The poem is You Are My I Love You by Maryann Cusimano and is a real favorite around our house.

little love

little love

I know things have been a bit on the silent side around here. I’ve just been busy soaking up every moment of my days with this little love of mine. On Saturday she’ll be 10 months old and it makes me a little sad to think her first birthday is right around the corner.  This adventure of ours is flying by so fast and so I’m making every effort to slow it down and enjoy it all. The still sleepless nights, her hilarious laugh, the way she smiles at me in the morning, her tiny hands, how every now and then she cuddles up and falls asleep on me. I want to live this time with her to the fullest and memorize everything and every moment.

*I’ll still be posting. It just won’t be as often as before. Probably more like a few days a week or maybe even less. We’ll see.

thinking of warmer days

Earlier this week Shayne and I both took the day away from our work to go out and enjoy some much needed sunshine. As soon as Isley was done with her nap we hit the road and headed to the marina and sat by the water. Isley fell in love with a piece of grass and the breeze hitting her face. It was a gorgeous sunny day in the lower 80s. Today, as I glance out the window while typing this, it’s a sad, rainy, gloomy day. I had to look back on these photos and remember that in just a few days this rain will be gone and the sun will be shining.

This is going to sound a little nutty. For months I’ve been weirdly sad about something. That something is that we forgot to take a family photo of the three of us at the hospital when Isley was born. I know you’re thinking that she’s nine months old now and why would that still bother you? I know I can’t go back and have a redo. I guess it was also the fact that in the last nine months we have only a handful of pictures with the three of us.

Anyway, I guess Shayne got tired of hearing me whine about not having many family photos. Thanks to him and our handy tripod and remote I finally have a few pictures with this sweet little family of mine that I love.

p.s. If you’re currently pregnant, don’t forget to take a picture of the three of you after the baby is born:)

Currently.

Watching: Season five of Mad Men on Netflix. Season six starts on Sunday and I am so excited! I love going back and re-watching previous seasons before the new one kicks off.

Reading: Jessica Alba’s new book The Honest Life: Living Naturally and True to You. So far I am loving this book. We use a lot of Honest products around here and this book is just as good! It offers great advice on clean eating, non-toxic cleaning and products and eco-friendly decor tips without being crazy.

Working on: Eating better and working out. It’s tough to fit in workouts around here while trying to juggle a teething baby, housework and working from home! Even though it’s been hard I’ve managed to lose 14lbs over the past 2 months or so. I still have more to lose but I feel happy and inspired to keep going.

Thinking about: Moving. This has been on my mind since finding out I was pregnant with Isley. We have been searching and searching for a new place with absolutely no luck for months. After another frustrating look at a house on Wednesday, we’ve decided to take a step back and take a breather. I know some people can’t imagine living and working from home in a one bedroom apartment with a nine month old baby. For us it’s working right now or at least it’s working better than finding somewhere else to call home.

Making me happy: Warmer weather, scoring some amazing deals at Anthropologie to update my Spring wardrobe, chasing my family around with my camera, waking up to a smiling baby and birds chirping outside our bedroom window and Korres Lip Butter in Quince.

*Inspired by the lovely Danielle over at Sometimes Sweet.
