Our Surprise Baby Shower

Monday, July 2nd, 2012

Last Saturday my best friend surprised us with a baby shower. Everything was beautiful and so well put together. We received some really great gifts but best of all was spending time with our friends and loved ones.

Oh Baby : 37 Weeks

Sunday, July 1st, 2012

My 37th week has been a hectic one. We have the nursery nook all finished. The artwork has been hung, the crib skirt has been sewn and now we wait.

Saturday my best friend threw us a surprise baby shower. It was wonderful to be surrounded by so much love from our friends and family. We received a lot of the things we needed for baby and plenty of gift cards for the things that are still on our list.

Last week while I was at the hospital for a non stress test, I was informed by one of the nurses that my doctor would no longer be practicing OB! Finding a new doctor at this point in my pregnancy was not what I had in mind. I’ll miss my midwives the most because at the new practice I found all I have seen is doctors. I’m just hoping everything goes well and we have a smooth delivery. I’m so anxious to see our sweet girl!

Oh Baby : 32 Weeks

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

This week we’ve done tons of preparations for baby’s arrival. The crib is put together, shelves have been hung and clothes have been washed. I’m still waiting on a few pieces of artwork to arrive before I can reveal the nursery and by nursery I mean the other side of our bedroom. At first I was apprehensive about staying in our one bedroom apartment with a baby but after some rearranging and thanks to our large room I think we will be just fine.

Baby has been doing well and is growing a few days ahead of schedule. On our most recent ultrasound we learned that baby is definatley a girl, weighs over 4 pounds and already has hair. I couldn’t believe the hair thing because we were both pretty bald babies ourselves.

This third trimester has really knocked me out. I’m feeling so exhausted and huge! My blood pressure has been a bit on the high side so my doctor wanted to be extra cautious and now I am dealing with taking medication and lots of non-stress tests. All of that aside I just cannot wait to meet this little lady!

Pregnancy Must-Haves

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

1. Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter – I love the way this lotion makes my skin feel. Super soft and helps take away the itchies. This lotion is a combination of Cocoa, Shea and Jojoba Butters. It’s extra thick and rich and feels like you’re pampering yourself a bit. Another plus is that it’s fragrance free!

2. Be Maternity Seamless Cami – This tank has been a lifesaver for me. It’s perfect for under maternity tops and long enough to cover your unbuttoned non-maternity jeans in the beginning. It has just the right amount of stretch and is super comfy.

3. Palmer’s Skin Therapy Oil – Feels great on itchy pregnancy skin and won’t leave you super greasy. I am not one of the lucky gals to make it through pregnancy without a single stretch mark. Using this I have already noticed some of the marks fading.

4. Boppy Prenatal Sleep Wedge – I didn’t want to hog all of the room in our bed with a giant body pillow so this small sleep wedge from Boppy is a great solution. I use it to support the bump and sometimes sleep with it wedged under my back for extra support. $15 well spent!

5. Benefit High Beam – This is my favorite makeup product right now. After countless nights of not so great sleep, a little of this highlighter makes me look like a human again.

6. Bringing Up Bebe – This is a nice break from the usual pregnancy books. To be honest I found most of my pregnancy books to be a bit traumatizing. Bringing Up Bebe is like a breathe of fresh air.

Two other things that have been so wonderful throughout this pregnancy are prenatal massages and prenatal yoga. Both have been great stress relievers and make me feel so much better!
