Vintage Pyrex : Golden Scroll Chip & Dip Set

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

I found this Scroll Chip and Dip Set over the weekend at a local antique shop. This one has been on my wishlist and I was so excited to find it with the original gold piece that holds the bowls together! The promotional set is from 1959 and includes a large 4 quart bowl and a smaller 1.5 pint bowl, both in the cinderella shape. The same scroll pattern can be found in white on blue and white on pink.

The pattern is a gold scroll printed upon an ivory background. I have seen the original box to this and although the pattern is often referred to as Golden Scroll, the box calls it Deluxe Chip and Dip Set Gold on Ivory. The paper work included in the box on the other hand does call this Golden and offers some ideas on how to use the set:

* Use for snacks as Chip and Dip Set
* Use for party punch bowl
* Use bowls separately for mixing, baking and serving

Name: Golden Scroll (Gold on Ivory)
Type: Promotional Cinderella Deluxe Chip and Dip Set
Size: Large bowl – 4 quart #444 and Small bowl – 1.5 pint #441
Year: 1959

Friday, April 15th, 2011

The Pyrex Hostess Oven and Table Set consisted of a 2.5 quart square bowl and four 12 ounce individual matching dishes. The set was available in autumn red and harvest yellow. The 2.5 quart bowl and dishes were available separately as well. Along with the dishes there was a Hostess Casserole dish which appears to be similar to the square bowl but has a cover to keep food warm.

Vintage Pyrex : Part Of My Collection

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Today was yet another cold, rainy and dark day in PA, which made it close to impossible to get a good photo for this week’s Pyrex Obsession. Luckily I came across this bright and cheery photo of part of my collection. If you saw my feature in Antique Week you may remember this but here you get to see all of the gorgeous colors!

Vintage Pyrex : Verde Casserole

This week’s obsession is a 2.5 quart cinderella oval casserole from the Verde collection.

Pyrex introduced the Verde collection in 1964. The pattern had mixing bowls and casseroles in varying shades of green. They where in a gradient, with the largest bowl/casserole being a dark avocado to the smallest in the set being a light chartreuse. A few of the casseroles including the bake, serve and store set and the divided casserole have a white lid with a pattern of olives or berries and leaves printed in an avocado green shade.
