This week’s pyrex obsession is a promotional oval casserole dish from the Spring of 1958. Along with a few other promotional pieces it’s name is Decorator but others refer to it as Mod Kitchen because of the pattern. It is a pale yellow dish featuring different kitchen items in black.

I just love the pattern with the lemon, fish, forks, watermelon, carrots, pepper, spoons, pepper mill, pineapple,  mushroom, salt and onion.  It’s so kitschy and cute! This is another casserole that came with a carrying cradle with white plastic handles.

The Harvest pattern consists of fruit like pears, apples, bunches of grapes, peaches, and cherries outlined in brown printed on a dark gold background as well as the gradient background on this set. I’ve seen this pattern referred to as Old Orchard on a few other Pyrex sites. After seeing an original advertisement I saw that it’s real name is Harvest. You can view a the Promotional Harvest Casserole here along with the advertisement. It was produced in 1960. Featured in the photo is the Round Cinderella Casserole Set and an Oval Cinderella Casserole.

The Oval Cinderella Casserole is 1.5 quart with the number 043 printed on the bottom. The casseroles in the Round Cinderella Set include a 1 quart, 1.5 quart and a 2 quart. All come with dark brown lids. The 1 quart casserole (473) appears to be featured in two Pyrex casserole sets. It is the smallest dish in the Round Casserole Sets and the largest dish in the Bake Serve Store Sets.

Spring Blossom is one of the most recognizable Pyrex patterns. Although popular in the 1970′s I have fond childhood memories surrounding Spring Blossom and my mother’s kitchen. She had the bake serve and store casserole set and every time she made my brothers and I jello it would be in those funky flower covered casseroles.

The pattern consists of white flowers printed on a green background and also green flowers printed on white. Spring Blossom is also referred to as Crazy Daisy which causes some confusion. There are actually two versions of the Spring Blossom pattern. The one shown here is the original from the early seventies. A later version features a similar pattern that features smaller sized flowers, an occasional tulip and a somewhat lighter green shade.

Introduced in 1976, the Homestead pattern features blue vines and flowers on a speckled tan background. Homestead resembles the folk art designs found on crockery and earthenware. This particular set belonged to Shayne’s great aunt. I love finding Pyrex in it’s original box with packaging!

This set includes three round casseroles in the following sizes: 1 quart, 1.5 quart and 2.5 quart. Along with three clear glass lids.

Homestead was most often made in the blue pattern but also came in brown with clear or amber lids. Other pieces available in the Homestead pattern include: Cinderella Bake Serve Store Casseroles, Mixing Bowls, Cinderella Oval Casseroles, Refrigerator Dishes and Cinderella Mixing Bowls.
