A Southern Elopement

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

Eric and Kylene had the most intimate and sweet elopement! Famous William Photography was there to document the wedding day. I especially like the bride’s vintage Jessica McClintock dress and her headband that she handmade with pieces of recycled wedding gowns. The Liberty of London blanket and pastels make this the cutest elopement I’ve seen!

BHLDN : What I Bought

Monday, February 14th, 2011

After waiting for what seems like forever BHLDN is finally here! I bought these two dresses this afternoon and am hoping that one of them will be perfect for the big day. I wanted something short and a little different. These fit the bill. Still trying to decide on what shoes to purchase but I LOVE just about every pair from Something Bleu!

BHLDN Preview

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

Anthropologie’s new wedding line, BHLDN, launches on February 14th and I couldn’t be more excited! Finally, some short wedding dresses that I like. Wedding gowns will be priced from $1,000 to $4,000 — and special occasion frocks from $200 to $600. Among the offerings will also be veils, shoes, wraps and eventually everything from cake pedestals to place cards. Here is a sneak peek of the some of the wedding dresses. My favorites are the short ones on the top!

How To Create a Side Chignon

Monday, November 8th, 2010

I’ve been wanting to try this side chignon since I saw it in the Summer issue of Martha Stewart Weddings alongside some other DIY wedding hairstyles. Also, if I could have any hair color this beautiful shade of red would be it! Below is a step-by-step guide to creating a side chignon.

1. Using a round brush, blow-dry hair smooth and straight, focusing on the top sections

2. Once dry, use a large-barrel curling iron to create waves from the ears down

3. Build height and volume at the crown by teasing hair gently with a fine-tooth comb

4. Gather hair into a low ponytail; twist it along the nape of your neck, pinning as you go

5. Once you reach your ear, shape the remaining hair into curls, and pin them back over the twist

6. Spritz strands in place
